Salam Kisan has announced a strategic collaboration with SVERI College of Engineering, Pandharpur, to launch a Joint Remote Pilot Training Organization (RPTO) on SVERI’s advanced campus. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic institutions and the industry, responding to the surging demand for skilled drone pilots in India. As drone technology is rapidly integrated into various sectors like agriculture, logistics, and infrastructure, the partnership seeks to cultivate a competent workforce capable of meeting industry demands, projected to exceed 100,000 professional pilots by 2027.
Empowering Rural Youth Through Technological Training
This collaboration particularly emphasizes creating employment opportunities for rural youth, aiming to promote socio-economic development through technological empowerment. The initiative reflects a shared vision of enhancing community skills and capabilities, leading to significant growth in underprivileged areas. The official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was attended by key figures, including Akshay Khobragade, COO of Salam Kisan, and Dr. B. P. Ronge, Principal of SVERI College of Engineering, showcasing the commitment of both organizations to this transformative agenda.
Commitment to Innovation and Sustainable Growth
Akshay Khobragade articulated the significance of this partnership, stating it marks a vital step towards developing a resilient drone ecosystem in India. With over 21,000 drone pilots certified by the DGCA as of December 2024, and a clear industry demand for skilled operators, the RPTO aims to equip individuals with essential skills for thriving in this burgeoning sector. Dhanashree Mandhani, Founder and CEO of Salam Kisan, further emphasized the goal of fostering innovation in agriculture and enhancing socio-economic development in rural communities, alongside recent initiatives to promote drone manufacturing and training in collaboration with the Maharashtra government.
