Rajasthan announced a Rs 1,000 crore fund for farmers’

 Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday announced a Rs 1,000 crore fund for farmers’ welfare besides a Rs 50 crore Mahatma Gandhi Institution in Jaipur, which will also house a Gandhi Museum.

The number of free drugs under the CM Free Medicine Scheme will be increased to 712 from 608 and number of free tests to 90 from 70, Gehlot said.

To boost employment, the CM announced Rs 1,000 crore assistance under the Youth Employment Scheme, besides 75,000 vacant positions would be filled in various government departments to provide jobs to the youth.

Hitting out at the previous BJP government for not implementing the Rajasthan Rehabilitation of Beggars or Indigents Act, Gehlot said Jaipur would be made “beggar free”.

Gehlot also said a separate feeder at a cost of Rs 5,200 crore would be established to provide uninterrupted electric supply to farmers and set a target of Rs 16,000 crore crop loans from cooperative banks. He also announced setting up of ‘Nandi Shala’ in each gram panchayat.

The CM also announced Rs 927 crore for state highways, a new policy for electric vehicles and said no permission will be required for MSMEs for the first three years.
