New ORBIS Digital Training Hub at Sankara eye hospital to Train 200 Eye-Care Professionals Annually

Sankara Eye Foundation India has been recognised as an ORBIS Digital Training Hub for South India, with the advanced facility at Sankara Eye Hospital, Bengaluru, inaugurated by Dr. Prof. B. L. Sujatha Rathod, Director, Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka, in the presence of Dr. R. V. Ramani, Founder & Managing Trustee, Sankara Eye Foundation India; Mr. Vijay Bharadwaj, former Test Cricketer, Coach and Cricket Commentator; Dr. Rishi Raj Borah, Country Director, Orbis India. The Hub brings together simulation, virtual reality, hands-on surgical training and digital mentorship and is expected to train approximately 200 eye-care professionals annually across Karnataka and South India through programmes in Glaucoma, Medical Retina and Uveitis, along with observerships and fellowships. The initiative is part of ORBIS’s wider Digital Training Hub network, with four hubs in India having already facilitated more than 2,200 trainings for ophthalmic professionals, helping expand access to specialist learning beyond major cities.
