South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has taken a pioneering step towards creating an inclusive and respectful environment for its female employees by inaugurating the first bio-toilet at Churcha RO Mines in Baikunthpur Area, inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey. Addressing the occasion, he emphasized that “safe, hygienic, and respectful work environments empower women’s participation, and this forms the true foundation of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.” Senior officials, including SECL CMD Shri Harish Duhan and Directors N. Franklin Jaykumar, Biranchi Das, and D. Sunil Kumar, also participated in the event, which marked a significant milestone in promoting gender-inclusive workplaces.
SECL’s management announced that this initiative will be rolled out across all operational areas in phases, ensuring that every woman worker in the field has access to a dignified, hygienic, and adequate workplace. Recognizing the vital role women play in diverse functions—from mining to technical and administrative roles—the company’s move reflects its commitment to safeguarding their dignity, health, and convenience. This pioneering step underscores SECL’s dedication to fostering a safe and equitable environment for its women workforce.
