IndianOil organised a workshop on “Catalysing Corporate Partnerships for Indoor Solar Cooking System” in New Delhi in collaboration with Finovista.
The workshop was focused on expanding access to Surya Nutan, the indoor solar cooking device by integrating it with government schemes, corporate foundations, and civil society initiatives. Surya Nutan,is an innovative hybrid indoor solar cooking device developed by IndianOil.
The device was introduced to the Nation during India Energy Week 2023. The system is designed to cater various cooking needs and it aims to provide a long-lasting, low-maintenance, and sustainable solution to promote clean cooking practices in India.
The workshop was attended by J K Jethani, Sr Director/Scientist-F, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the Government of India, Dr Vibha Dhawan, Director General, The Energy & Resources Institute (TERI), Milind Deore, Secretary, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Dr Sanjay Kumar, Chief Policy Advisor, Climate Parliament &former Director General of Forests of India, Renewable Energy and Forest Conservation Dr Umish Srivastava, Executive Director (AE&IOTDD), R&D, IndianOil and Sandeep Sharma, Executive Director (Marketing Strategy), IndianOil.
During the workshop, discussions centered on aspects of product design, price, supply chain and user adaptation to encourage mass adoption. The Speakers highlighted the role of policy initiatives, corporate partnerships, leveraging carbon credits to develop viable projects, and establishing business model. Aspects related to behavioral changes to drive its widespread adoption were also delibated.
The workshop emphasized the importance of innovation and continuous enhancement of the Surya Nutan system to align with users’ needs and to fast the pace of its adoption across diverse communities.
The participants also discussed expansion of Surya Nutan’s reach and leveraging carbon credits to make the device more affordable. The experts discussed transparent and accountable mechanisms for financing the clean cooking technologies.
Nuances related to partnerships with organizations and the use of CSR funds for expanding the reach of solar cooking technology were also discussed. The workshop concluded with a consensus on the importance of collaboration and partnerships in addressing societal challenges and promoting sustainable cooking solutions.
