NTPC Fined by BSE, NSE Over Shortfall in Independent Directors

NTPC fined by BSE NSE for independent director shortfall

NEW DELHI. NTPC has been fined ₹5,36,900 each by BSE and NSE for non-compliance with the required number of Independent Directors during the June 2026 quarter. The company said it has been regularly following up with the Ministry of Power for appointment of the required Independent Directors, as the appointments are controlled by the administrative ministry. NTPC has sought waiver of the fines and said the matter, along with the non-compliance, will be placed before its Board of Directors for information. The company made the disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI Listing Regulations, highlighting an issue that has also affected several other government-owned companies where board appointments depend on the respective administrative ministry.
