Rourkela Steel Plant presents Merit Based Cash Award of Rs. 13.13 lakhs to 657 students of periphery villages

SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative presented Merit Based Cash Award to 657 meritorious pass out students of classes 7th and 10th of UP Schools and High Schools belonging to the peripheral villages of Nuagaon, Bisra, Kuarmunda and Lathikata Revenue Blocks, Model Steel Villages, Resettlement Colonies/Camps.

In a function organised at Institute for Peripheral Development, of CSR Deptt on 8th   May, 2026, Mr. B Sunil Kartha, CGM (SMS-I) presented dummy cheques to few students, with the money being transferred online to the account of the students. Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), Mr. R S Bara, DGM (CSR) and other officials of RSP were present on the occasion.

The students have been selected on the basis of their results in examinations for the academic year 2024-25. There were total 203 students from 66 High Schools and 454 students from 150 UP Schools.

The first, second and third position holders among the boys as well as girls of each school were given Rs 3000/- , Rs 2000/- and Rs 1000/- respectively . Total Rs. 13.13 lakh was disbursed towards the scholarship.

In his address, Mr. Kartha highlighted the multifarious CSR initiatives of RSP for the holistic development of the peripheral populace. He urged the students to make the best use of the scholarship and pursue their academic goals with single-minded devotion.

At the outset Ms. Mittra welcomed the gathering while Mr. R S Bara proposed a formal vote of thanks. Mr. B Ekka, Section Officer (CSR) coordinated the function.
