During the grand Independence Day celebrations organised by Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) at Ispat Stadium on 15th August 2026, Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-charge, presented trophies, Certificates of Merit and gift vouchers to the awardees under the maiden Motivational Scheme for Employees of the Steel Plant.
Introduced from the Financial Year 2026–27, the scheme aims to foster creativity, innovation and continuous improvement among employees and encourage their contributions towards improvements in Safety, Maintenance and Digital Innovation.
The scheme covers RSP employees up to the E-7 level and considers them zone-wise. The Plant has been divided into six zones, namely Iron, Steel, Mills, Services, Maintenance and Non-Works, with separate Executive and Workman categories. The Best Innovator and Second-Best Innovator from each zone were presented gift vouchers of Rs.10,000 and Rs.5,000 respectively, along with a Certificate of Merit and a trophy.
The awardees for the first quarter of 2026–27 from the Iron Zone were Mr. Vikil Deorao Malwe, AGM (B&TO), CPP-I, who received the Best Innovator Award in the Executive category and Mr. Santanu Kumar Mohanta, DGM, SP-II, who received the Second Best Innovator Award in the same category. In the Workman category, Mr. Sourav Kumar, OCT (T), Coke Ovens, received the Best Innovator Award, while Mr. Soubhagya R. Satrusal, Jr. Engineering Associate, Blast Furnaces, received the Second-Best Innovator Award.
From the Steel Zone, Mr. Ashwani Kain, AGM, Flux & Refinery, received the Best Innovator Award in the Executive category. From the Mills Zone, Mr. Naveen Rajavarapu, AGM, New Plate Mill, received the Best Innovator Award, while Mr. Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty, DGM, Hot Strip Mill–2, received the Second Best Innovator Award in the Executive category. In the Workman category, Mr. Ansuman Mishra, Jr. Engineering Associate (Cranes), Roll Shop, received the Best Innovator Award.
From the Services Zone, Mr. Bighnesh Sahoo, Engineering Associate, Digitalization, received the Best Innovator Award in the Workman category. From the Non-Works Zone, Mr. Vivek Kumar Yadav, Senior Manager, Projects, received the Best Innovator Award in the Executive category.
