NEW DELHI. Engineers India Limited (EIL) has officially begun construction
on its Compressed Biogas (CBG) Plant in the MIDC Halkarni Industrial Area
of Kolhapur district, Maharashtra. The foundation stone was laid by Shri
Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, alongside
EIL’s C&MD Ms. Vartika Shukla and other senior officials. This self-funded
project will have a capacity of 5 tonnes per day, processing 125 tonnes of
press mud from local sugar mills using bio-methanation technology. The
produced biogas is set to be supplied to HPOIL for use in the transport
sector, while the plant will also produce organic fertilizers, promoting
sustainable agriculture and a circular economy. This initiative reflects EIL's
commitment to expanding its footprint in sustainable energy and supporting
national energy transition goals.
