A Mock Drill on Blast Furnace Gas Leakage from the Dust Catcher of BF-1 was successfully conducted at Blast Furnace-1 of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 24th march, 2025. The exercise aimed to assess emergency preparedness and response strategies in handling potential gas hazards.
The drill was conducted in the presence of Mr. Sumit Kumar, CGM (Blast Furnaces); Mr. A.P. Gupta, DGM (BF) & DSO; Mr. Prabhu Patra, Assistant Manager (SED); and representatives from CISF, Fire Services, EMD, and OHSC.
Three specialized teams—Combat Team, Rescue Team, and Auxiliary Team—comprising members from Fire Services, Safety, and CISF actively participated in the exercise. The drill tested the effectiveness of coordinated emergency responses, reinforcing safety protocols and preparedness in tackling gas-related incidents.
