CMD Pradip Kumar Das of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd (IREDA) emphasized the need for a Rs 30 lakh crore investment over six fiscal years to fulfill India’s commitment to carbon emission reduction. India targets 50% non-fossil fuel power generation. The investment is crucial for manufacturing capacity in solar, electrolysers, wind, battery, transmission, green hydrogen, hydro, and waste-to-energy sectors.
Highlighting PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, an ambitious solar project backed by Rs 75,000 crore, Das sees it as pivotal for solarizing 1 crore households, providing free electricity, fostering awareness, and aiding India’s net-zero emissions by 2070 and energy independence by 2047.This initiative is poised to elevate the rooftop solar sector to unprecedented heights in the country.
