NEW DELHI. The Ministry of Mines has cleared 58 companies to participate in a 1,500 crore incentive scheme aimed at boosting the domestic recycling of critical minerals from lithium-ion batteries and e-waste. This initiative under the National Critical Mineral Mission seeks to reduce India’s reliance on imports and strengthen supply security for clean energy technologies. With a pledged investment of nearly 5,000 crore, these firms will build a combined recycling capacity of 850 kilo tonnes per year, marking a significant step toward self-reliance in the global green energy transition.
