New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Mass Communication achieved a major academic milestone by conferring its first-ever Master of Arts degrees in Public Communication and Governance upon Indian Information Service officer trainees following its elevation to a deemed-to-be university. Addressing the valedictory event, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Chanchal Kumar highlighted the evolving nature of public communication, urging officers to leverage emerging technologies like artificial intelligence while rigorously safeguarding accuracy and credibility against threats such as deepfakes and misinformation. Echoing these sentiments, Vice Chancellor Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaur commended the inaugural graduating class, emphasizing that effective public communication requires clarity, sensitivity, and two-way engagement to strengthen governance and institutional trust.
