The New Plate Mill (NPM) of Steel Authority of India Limited’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) recorded its highest-ever June month performance, producing 89,226 tonnes and dispatching 84,997 tonnes of plates. These figures surpass the previous June records of 82,098 tonnes in production and 84,481 tonnes in dispatch. During the month, NPM rolled 8,706 slabs, the highest number ever rolled in a 30-day month, with more than 350 slabs rolled on three separate occasions.
NPM also registered its best first-quarter (Q1) performance for FY 2026–27 in both production and dispatch. Compared to the corresponding period last year (CPLY), production grew by 11.55% while dispatch increased by 5.29%.
Congratulating Team NPM, Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge (RSP) has appreciated the outstanding achievement of the team, leadership and all supporting departments and commended their collective effort. He added that, at this critical juncture for Rourkela Steel Plant, performance must be raised further so that the plant can emerge stronger.
The achievement reflects coordinated efforts across operations, maintenance, quality, logistics and other supporting departments, and underscores NPM’s commitment to operational excellence and timely delivery to customers.
