SHIMLA. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced the launch of a drone-based mail transmission service by the Department of Posts in Himachal Pradesh, connecting Mandi Head Post Office and Rehardhar Branch Post Office. Spurred by feedback for efficient remote connectivity, this drone service slashes the conventional two-hour transit time for the 12-kilometre route to just seven minutes. The Ministry plans to deploy drones across 150 identified routes in Himachal Pradesh and Assam within three months.
