BILASPUR. Coal India Limited’s 3rd HR/IR Conclave “Utkarsh 2026,” hosted by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL),at Bilaspur concluded after two days of extensive deliberations on the future of human resources and industrial relations in the coal sector. Held under the theme “Shaping Minds, Strengthening Mines – Innovate, Excel, Rise,” the conclave brought together over 100 HR leaders, industry experts, and academicians. Chairman B. Sairam, in his inaugural address, emphasised the critical role of human capital in driving the organisation’s vision of “Reform, Perform, Transform.”
In his welcome address, SECL CMD Harish Duhan highlighted the importance of a people-centric culture and continuous employee development, while Chief Vigilance Officer Brajesh Kumar Tripathy stressed integrity and collective identity. Director (HR), CIL, Vinay Ranjan, in his keynote, underscored the transformation of HR into a strategic driver of productivity, innovation, and organisational growth. Sessions over the two days focused on change management, workforce planning, AI in HR, and strengthening leadership trust.
The valedictory session featured Pullela Gopichand, who drew parallels between sports and organisational excellence, emphasising discipline, resilience, and sustained effort. Moderated by SECL Director (HR) Biranchi Das, the session inspired participants to adopt performance-driven mindsets. The conclave concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen HR systems, promote innovation, and align people strategies with Coal India’s broader goal of sustainable and efficient mining.
