NEW DELHI. The government has intensified efforts to curb fertilizer hoarding, diversion, and black marketing by cancelling over 6,900 licenses and registering hundreds of cases. Since April 2025, authorities have conducted over 4.66 lakh inspections, issued more than 16,000 notices, and filed 821 FIRs to ensure fair distribution. Despite strict action, the government has maintained adequate fertilizer supplies for the ongoing Rabi season, with subsidized prices for urea and support for phosphatic fertilizers to keep costs stable and ensure farmers’ access to essential nutrients.
