The ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of a new Community Centre at Kadamtola village under Udsu Gram Panchayat of Bisra Block was held on 13th January 2026 by the CSR Department of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant. The CSR initiative aims for inclusive and holistic development of peripheral villages by enhancing community infrastructure and access to common facilities.
Mr. T. G. Kanekar, CGM (Town Services & CSR), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Also present on the occasion were Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-charge (CSR), Mr. Bivabasu Mallik, GM (CSR), Mr. R. S. Bara, DGM (CSR), Mr. Binayak Jena, AGM (CSR), Ms. Fulmani Kerketta, Block Chairman, Bisra Block, the Sarpanch of Udsu Gram Panchayat, officials of RSP, along with local villagers and village elders.
The proposed Community Centre will be equipped with two rooms, one spacious hall and a front verandah, along with internal electrification and other related facilities. The Community Centre, measuring 11 x 10 metres, will be constructed at an estimated project cost of approximately Rs. 14 lakhs.
The facility has been taken up based on the long-standing demand of the villagers and is expected to serve as a common platform for social, cultural and developmental activities of the village. Once completed, the Community Centre will cater to various community needs such as meetings, training programmes, social gatherings and welfare activities, thereby strengthening community bonding and improving the quality of life in the village.
