Shri Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, released a Rs.50 Commemorative Coin to mark 50 years of NHPC Limited at a ceremony held in New Delhi on 6th November 2025. The event was graced by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary (Power), Ministry of Power, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, and Shri Uttam Lal, Director (Personnel),
NHPC. Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister congratulated NHPC for its five decades of remarkable service, stating that the coin symbolizes the Government of India’s
recognition of NHPC’s enduring legacy, resilience, and its strategic contribution to the nation’s energy self-reliance. He also unveiled a special comic book titled *“Chhota Bheem aur Bada Bandh”*, designed to spread awareness about the importance and benefits of hydropower among children and the general public.
Expressing gratitude, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, thanked the Union Minister and the Ministry of Power for their guidance and support, noting that the commemorative coin is a tribute to NHPC’s illustrious journey and achievements. Over the past 50 years, NHPC has implemented landmark hydropower projects in challenging terrains while diversifying into solar, wind, and green hydrogen, establishing itself as a 100% Green Energy Company. With an installed capacity of over 8,333 MW across 30 power stations and another 9,704 MW under construction, NHPC continues to play a pivotal role in advancing India’s clean energy transition and strengthening the nation’s energy security.
