BENGALURU, INDIA – September 29, 2025: Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, today announced its successful recertification for the ISO/IEC 27001:2022 standard, following a comprehensive audit conducted by the British Standards Institution (BSI). This achievement underscores Flipkart’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of information security and data protection for its customers, sellers, and partners.
Flipkart’s successful recertification for ISO 27001, a globally recognized standard for information security, signifies that the company has a robust Information Security Management System (ISMS) in place. The ISMS is a systematic framework that governs its policies, processes, and controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its information. It provides a structured, risk-based approach to managing all its sensitive data, including the information customers entrust to Flipkart.
To achieve this recertification, Flipkart underwent a rigorous audit by BSI, a globally respected body known for its thoroughness and impartiality. Their auditors thoroughly examined every aspect of Flipkart’s security framework, encompassing its policies, operational procedures, technical controls, and employee training. This process validates that the company’s security measures are not only well-documented but also effectively implemented and continuously monitored. By maintaining this high standard, Flipkart ensures that its approach to cybersecurity is not merely reactive but deeply embedded in its operations, with a continual commitment to ongoing improvement.
Vikas Yadav, Chief Information Security Officer, Flipkart, said, “This is a significant validation of our commitment to information security. Our Information Security Management System (ISMS) is the bedrock of our security posture, providing a systematic, risk-based framework to protect our data and, most importantly, the information our customers entrust to us. The recertification process, conducted by the rigorous auditors at BSI, was comprehensive. They examined every facet of our security ecosystem — from our technical controls and operational procedures to our company-wide training programs. This certification reiterates our approach to cybersecurity, which is deeply embedded in our DNA, ensuring we are always prepared and continuously improving.”
The scope of the certification encompasses Flipkart’s core e-commerce business, warehousing, and logistics, as well as critical support functions, including Information Technology, Information Security, Legal, Finance, Real Estate, Workplace, Procurement, and Human Resources.
Theuns Kotze, Managing Director, BSI India, said: “The global digital landscape is changing, with core business practices now increasingly cloud-based and digitally reliant. BSI is proud to be a trusted partner as organizations respond to this.
“Certification to the information security management systems standard (ISO/IEC 27001) shows that Flipkart has taken the necessary steps to protect itself against cyber threats and ensure its information security is in line with global best practice. This focus on achieving digital trust is crucial in a world of technological transformation. Congratulations to the team on this achievement.”
