Purabi Dairy reduces prices of dairy products, passes on GST benefits to consumers

Purabi Dairy reduces prices of dairy products

Guwahati, September 18, 2025: Bringing good news to households across the region, Purabi Dairy has reduced the prices of several dairy products by passing on the complete benefit of the GST reduction announced by the 56th GST Council.

North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL), which markets Purabi products manufactured by West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL), said that effective September 22, the prices of Purabi Paneer, Purabi Ghee, Purabi Flavoured Milk and Purabi Ice-Cream will reduce, making them more affordable for households across the state.

As part of the reform process, paneer and UHT milk are exempted from GST. Ice-cream will now attract 5% GST from the earlier 18% GST, while price of ghee will reduce as it is placed in the 5% GST slab from the earlier 12% GST rate.

The reform meant that the entire portfolio of Purabi products now falls either under the exempted/nil or the lowest slab of 5% GST.

“We are thankful to the government for reducing GST on dairy products. This progressive move will make dairy products more affordable and accessible, creating higher demand while strengthening the sector. It will empower farmers, drive sustainable growth of the industry and fuel India’s rural economy. Purabi Dairy remains committed to bringing the best of this reform to every household,” said SK Parida, Managing Director, WAMUL.

Effective September 22, 2025, the prices of Purabi Paneer will come down from Rs 95 to Rs 92 for 200 grams pack. Similarly, Purabi Ghee 500ml will be Rs 420, down from Rs 450 earlier. The popular Purabi Flavoured Milk will be Rs 25, down from Rs 30 earlier. The price of Purabi ice-cream has been reduced across variants. Purabi Smart UHT 1 Lt pack will get reduced to Rs 74. “In the spirit of the reform, we are passing on the GST reduction benefits to our consumers, ensuring that this reform directly translates into more affordable dairy products,” said SB Bose, Managing Director, NEDFL.

The price reduction not only makes Purabi products more affordable but also will boost demand, directly benefitting thousands of dairy farmers linked with WAMUL and EAMUL, in line with Purabi’s vision of empowering rural communities and delivering quality dairy to every household.
