The 30-day Children Theatre Workshop jointly organized by National School of Drama, New Delhi and SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) culminated into a final production – GHATI 1857 which was staged in the Civic Center on 10th June, 2025. Mr. Alok Verma, Director In-Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant with additional charge of DSP & ISP was the Chief Guest of the function while Mrs. Namrata Verma, President, Deepika Mahila Sanghati, Prof. Md. Abdul Kadir Shah, Assistant Professor & Dean Academics (NSD), Mr. Biswaranjan Palai, ED (Works) Mr. Anil Kumar, ED (MM), Mr. M P Singh, ED (Mines), Dr. Jayant Kumar Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&HS), Mrs. Pratijna Palai, Mrs. Rita Rani, Mrs. Bandana Singh, Vice Presidents (DMS) were the Guests of Honour. The event was inaugurated by Mrs. Namrata Verma, and other dignitaries with the lighting up of the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the gathering the Mr. Alok Verma profusely praised the talents of the children who enacted the play with perfection and precision. “The expressions, movements, acting everything were so perfectly portrayed in the play” he added. Mr. Verma encouraged the children to pursue their passion for art.
The play GHATI 1857 excelled in terms of story line, histrionics, dialogues, stagecraft, music and direction, and kept the audience glued to their seats till the end.
At the end the dignitaries presented mementoes to Mr. Jagganath Seth, NSD Alumnus & Workshop Director, Assistant Directors, Coordinators and the children artists as a token of appreciation for their stunning performance. The DIC also felicitated Prof. Abdul Kadir Shah during the occassion.
Mrs. Archana Satpathy, GM (PR) & CoC delivered the welcome address while Mr. Bhaskar Chandra Mohapatra, Local Coordinator (NSD) proposed a formal vote of thanks. Mr. Joydev Majumdar, Assistant Manager (PR) anchored the programme. The programme was attended by many Senior Officers of the Plant, theatre lovers and family members of the artists.
