SJVN Ltd celebrated its 38th Raising Day on May 24-2025. SJVN Ltd, originally a single hydro project operator, has transformed into a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) as of August 31, 2024, recognizing its dedication toward delivering clean and green energy to India.
The company’s CMD , Shri R.K. Vishnoi highlighted that since its last Raising Day, SJVN has commissioned 410 MW of renewable energy projects and is progressing toward completing the 100 MW Nawa Solar Power Project in Rajasthan and the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar. With a successful track record of power distribution in remote areas and substantial renewable energy resources, SJVN aims to reach a full operational capacity of 1000 MW at the Bikaner Solar Power Project soon.
CMD highligheted that company has ambitious plans to expand its capacity to 25,000 MW by 2030 and 50,000 MW by 2040, currently operating 1972 MW of hydropower across three plants—Nathpa Jhakri, Rampur, and Naitwar Mori—and possessing 97.6 MW of wind and 396.9 MW of solar capacity. Beyond India, SJVN is developing hydro projects in Nepal and Bhutan. Having been conferred with Miniratna status in 2008, SJVN’s elevation to Navratna status marks a significant milestone in its growth trajectory.
