Hyderabad’s Bowenpally market is pioneering an impressive waste management solution, transforming 10 tons of waste every day into 300 units of electricity, biofuel, and fertiliser. Developed in collaboration with CSIR-IICT and Ahuja Engineering, this innovative project powers streetlights, market stalls, and water supplies, successfully preventing an astounding 6,290 kg of CO2 emissions each year.
In addition to its environmental benefits, the initiative also creates job opportunities for women in the community, showcasing a dual commitment to sustainability and social empowerment.
As cities around the world grapple with waste management and energy challenges, Bowenpally serves as a shining example of what can be achieved through technology and community involvement.
