SHIMLA. SJVN has announced the successful commissioning and achievement of the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for Unit-1 (660 MW) of the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project, marking a major milestone in the company’s efforts to bolster India’s power generation capacity. CMD, Sh. Bhupender Gupta congratulated all employees and stakeholders for their dedication and coordinated efforts, emphasizing that this accomplishment demonstrates SJVN’s technical excellence and organizational strength. He highlighted that the milestone reflects the company’s commitment to efficient project execution. Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), praised the collective effort involved, while Sh. Sipan Kumar Garg, Director (Finance), noted that the successful commissioning enhances SJVN’s generation portfolio and reinforces its position as a key player in India’s sustainable energy development.
The 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project, located in Bihar and implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited, features two supercritical units and was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in August 2025.
