SAIL, RSP organises Swachhata rally with impactful plastic collection drive

SAIL RSP Swachhata rally plastic collection drive Rourkela

Demonstrating a strong commitment towards cleanliness and environmental responsibility, the Public Health Unit of the Town Engineering (TE) Department of SAIL Rourkela Steel Plant has been organizing a series of engaging activities across the plant and township to mark the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada.

As part of the initiative, members of various Swachhata Swabhiman Groups formed by RSP actively participated in a unique Plastic / rag-picking walk aimed at removing plastic waste from public spaces on 22nd March 2026. The walk was formally flagged off by Dr. Deepa Lavangare, Deputy Chief Medical Officer (TE-PH), who encouraged participants to adopt sustainable habits and contribute towards a cleaner environment.

The participants commenced their walk from Ispat Stadium, covering key areas of Sector-6 including Kendriya Vidyalaya, Sector-6 Market and culminating at Fitness Park. Around 50 persons equipped with sacks provided by the organizers, each participant enthusiastically collected plastic waste along the route, reinforcing the message of responsible waste management.

Notable groups that took part in the drive included the Fitness Park Swachhata Group, Sector-6, and the Clean and Green Group, among others.

The event was coordinated by Mr. R Pradhan, Assistant Manager (TE-PH), ensuring smooth execution and active participation. With these initiatives RSP continues to foster a culture of cleanliness, community participation and environmental stewardship in line with the spirit of Swachh Bharat.
