Fifteen women from Bondamunda Gram Panchayat were trained in the 1st phase in tailoring and operating industry grade sewing machines in a 15-day training programme organized by SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant at the Institute for Peripheral Development. The concluding function of the programme was held on 23rd December 2025. The aim of the programme is to develop the skill sets of underprivileged women and establish a Training cum Production Centre (TCPC) at Bondamunda. Each trainee would also be provided with a commercial grade sewing machine. The tailoring sessions were conducted by Ms. Monalisha Sahoo, Master Trainer (Usha Silai School).

Mr. T G Kanekar, CGM (TS&CSR) was the Chief Guest of the valedictory function and handed over the Certificate of completion to all the trainees. Present on the occasion were Ms. Munmun Mittra, GM In-Charge (CSR), Mr. T B Toppo, DGM (CSR), Mr. S K Sukula, Deputy Manager (CSR), Mr. Guru Prasad Mohanty, Project Manager, Gram Utthan and other Officials of RSP and concerned agencies.
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Kanekar appreciated the CSR endeavours taken towards economic empowerment of the women of peripheral villages. He urged all to make the best use of the opportunity to reap maximum benefits. Best of the products made by the trainees during the training such as clothings for men, women, children as well as Kitchen Apron, Embroidery and Applique Work, etc were also displayed on the occasion.
Under the first phase of 15 days training, the women were taught installation of sewing machines, repair and servicing, designing and pattern formulating, measurement techniques and cutting, sewing and stitching, garment fitting, hemming and interlocking, packeting and fasting and other specific garment tailoring training. After the completion of the first phase, a Training cum Production Centre (TCPC) will be set up at Bondamunda with sewing machine of both normal and commercial category and a multi functional sewing machine. The second phase would be a 10 days refresher onsite training course after a period of six months. In the third phase the trainees would be imparted with 10 days specialized training in cutwork appliqué training as a measure towards value addition. After complete training the trained women shall be registered as a Producer Group and linkage with ORMAS shall be established for large orders. The total cost for the training and establishment of the Training cum Production Centre (TCPC) at Bondamunda Gram Panchayat will be Rs. 11.98 lakh which includes Rs. 35,000.00 as seed money for starting commercial business activity.
At the outset Ms. Mittra delivered the inaugural address. Mr. S K Sukula proposed a formal vote of thanks while Md. Zahid Akhtar, Section Associate (CSR)coordinated the function.
