NTPC Bongaigaon, in partnership with the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, hosted a vibrant two-day Anand Mela titled Junaki Mon to celebrate the musical and cultural legacy of Assam. The event was inaugurated by Shri Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director, alongside senior leadership and representatives from various welfare bodies. The festival served as a significant platform for community engagement, blending traditional tributes to musical icons like Zubeen Garg with interactive installations that showcased the region’s unique identity.

The mela featured over 30 stalls that became a focal point for regional entrepreneurship and culinary diversity. Members of the Ladies Club and local Self-Help Groups presented an array of traditional North Eastern delicacies, ethnic handicrafts, and sustainable products made from areca and bamboo. This collective effort not only highlighted the creative talents of the local community but also promoted eco-friendly innovations, such as the organic food products and handmade toys that drew significant interest from visitors and district officials alike.
Community participation was further enriched through a series of cultural performances and inclusive activities. Troupes from the Bodoland Territorial Region and Guwahati captivated the audience with traditional music and dance, while NTPC employees and their families managed game stalls and musical sets. The atmosphere of inclusivity was bolstered by the participation of Bal Bhawan and the creative involvement of various departments, ensuring that the mela functioned as a true confluence of diverse stakeholders.

In a strong display of social responsibility, the event included a meaningful CSR initiative where NTPC Bongaigaon distributed educational kits and winter wear to 48 girls under the Girl Empowerment Mission. This gesture underscored the organization’s commitment to gender equality and rural development, wrapping up a successful celebration that balanced festive joy with a dedicated focus on regional welfare and sustainable growth.
The event was further graced by the presence of Shri J. K. Brahma, the first Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, along with Smt.
