NLC India Limited (NLCIL) celebrated Vriksharopan Abhiyan 2024, an initiative by the Ministry of Coal, with a mass tree plantation drive across 14 sites in five districts spanning Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh.
Approximately 4,200 participants, including executives, employees, Indcoserve and contract workers, and around 100 school children, took part in the event.
During the event, 42,500 saplings were planted and 92,500 saplings were distributed to NLCIL’s executives, employees, Indcoserve workers, contract workmen, students, and the general public in Neyveli.
The event saw active participation from the CMD, Functional Directors, CVO of NLCIL, DIG/CISF, and Deputy Director Medical of Cuddalore.
Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD of NLCIL, highlighted the significance of Vriksharopan Abhiyan, initiated by the Ministry of Coal in 2020, aimed at restoring ecological balance through sustainable measures. He praised NLCIL Mines for being a national role model with their Eco-park and innovative sustainability initiatives and urged all stakeholders to uphold sustainable mining and living practices. In Mine-IA alone, 3,000 saplings were planted. Additional plantation drives were conducted in Mine-I, Mine-II, Thermal Power Station-II, Thermal Power Station-II Expansion, Thermal Power Station-I Expansion, and various township areas, resulting in a total of 82,000 saplings planted and distributed.
