A new Chiller Unit and an Online Printing System were inaugurated at the Sheet Shearing Line of Hot Strip Mill-2 of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant on 20th March, 2025. The facilities were inaugurated by Mr. Subrat Kumar, CGM (HSMs & AUX). Present on the occasion were Mr. R. Kujur, GM- HOS (Electrical), Mr. D.K. Yadav, GM- HOS (Operations), Mr. Subrat Kanungo, GM- HOS (Mechanical), Mr. Sekhar Narayan, GM In-Charge (Design & Shops) (Mechanical), Mr. S Soren GM(E), Mr. H S Allahabadia GM(Operation), Mr. L Tudu GM( Instrumentation) and other senior officers of the department.
Notably, the newly installed Chiller Unit is designed specifically for the cooling of hydraulic oil in the flying shear clutch. This advanced system will help maintain hydraulic oil at an optimal temperature, thereby preventing leakages and failures in the Sheet Shearing Line of HSM#2. The newly introduced “Online Printing” system for sheets, will facilitate uninterrupted shearing and production, enhancing overall efficiency. The program was coordinated by Mr. J. Verma, Senior Manager (Operations).
