Array of programmes mark observance of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 at SAIL RSP

An array of programmes is being organized in the Steel Township to mark the ongoing Swachhata Pakhwada at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). The activities are witnessing enthusiastic participation from employees, students and Steel City residents at large. Pledge taking ceremonies and cleaning activities are being organized as part of the observance.

On 26th March, 2024, around 30 Scouts and Guides of Deepika Ispat Siksha Sadan (DISS), the free school of RSP, carried out cleanliness activities in the Ispat Nehru Park, Sec-19. Mr. P K Swain, CGM In-Charge (TA&CSR), Mr. B K Jojo, CGM (TE-Horticulture), many other senior officers of Town Engg. and Town Services were present on the occasion. The dignitaries administered Swachhata pledge to the students and later cleaned the park to mark the Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 campaign. The activities were coordinated by Dr. Avijit Biswas, DGM (horticulture) and I/c ZDP.

Similarly, a mass cleaning drive was organised at Ispat Central Market, Sec-19 on 23rd March. Mr. P K Swain and Mr. B K Jojo joined the cleanliness drive organized by the Ispat Central market committee and facilitated by the Public Health Unit of RSP.

Another cleanliness drive was organized at the Abhirampalli Basti, Sec-5, where a group of women from Swachhata Swabhiman joined together to clean the periphery areas of the basti. The drive was led by Mr. B K Jojo.

A swachhata talk on curbing single-use plastic was organized at the Town Engineering Conference Hall on 24th March in which more than 30 participants were present. Dr. Deepa D Lavangare, Dy. CMO (TE-PH) was the resource person.

The Public Health Unit has also taken a lot of other initiatives like door to door awareness campaign, distribution of leaflets in the township, selling of Cloth bags through SHGs to encourage people to stop using single use plastics. These campaigns are led by Mr. Rasananda Pradhan, Assistant Manager (TE-PH).
