NEW DELHI : In a major step toward environmental sustainability, NCRTC is implementing a comprehensive rainwater harvesting initiative along the entire Namo Bharat corridor — stretching from Sarai Kale Khan (Delhi) to Modipuram (Meerut). A total of 900 rainwater harvesting pits are being strategically constructed as part of this initiative.
We are proud to share that 800 of these pits have already been constructed and are fully operational, contributing significantly to groundwater recharge and efficient storm water management in the region.
The construction of the remaining 100 pits is progressing swiftly and is expected to be completed soon. Once fully operational, the network of harvesting pits will enhance the corridor’s environmental footprint by helping conserve water, prevent runoff, and mitigate urban flooding risks.
This initiative reflects NCRTC’s strong commitment to integrating sustainable practices within infrastructure development, in line with national goals for climate resilience and responsible urbanization.
We extend our appreciation to all teams involved in this vital project. Your dedication to embedding sustainability into every facet of the Namo Bharat corridor is creating lasting impact for generations to come.
Let’s continue to lead by example — building infrastructure that not only moves people but also protects our planet.
