Shri Manohar Lal, the Hon’ble Minister of Power, Government of India, and Shri Deepak Khadka, the Hon’ble Energy Minister of Nepal, visited the under-construction 900 MW Arun-3 Hydro Electric Project in Nepal, implemented by SJVN’s wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Arun-3 Power Development Company (SAPDC). Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, Sh. R K Chaudhary, CMD of SJVN (additional charge), welcomed the Hon’ble Minister and accompanied the delegation to the project site, which included notable figures such as Shri Naveen Shrivastava, Indian Ambassador to Nepal; Shri Suresh Acharya, Secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Energy; Shri Akash Tripathi, Additional Secretary of India’s Ministry of Power; and other senior officials from both governments. During the visit, the Ministers inspected the powerhouse and its ongoing turbine assembly works, receiving a progress briefing from Shri Prashant Sharma, CEO of SAPDC. They commended the pace and quality of the construction, urging project teams to maintain momentum for timely completion, and jointly inaugurated the start of Electro-mechanical works for Unit#2. Additionally, the delegation visited the dam site to review construction activities, inspecting the Head Race Tunnel (HRT) through Adit 1, where excavation of the 11.7 km tunnel was completed in June 2024. The Ministers expressed satisfaction with the ongoing HRT works and encouraged SAPDC employees to expedite dam construction efforts for early completion.
