NEW DELHI. MECON Limited has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL) to provide engineering and project management services for major expansion and modernization of HCL’s key copper facilities. The partnership aims to strengthen India’s domestic copper production, focusing on expanding the Malanjkhand Copper Project in Madhya Pradesh to increase ore processing capacity and support long-term growth, especially with rising demand from renewable energy, electric vehicles, and infrastructure.
The agreement also covers modernization efforts at the Khetri Copper Complex in Rajasthan and the Indian Copper Complex in Jharkhand, involving technology upgrades, process improvements, and environmental enhancements. MECON will oversee the entire project, ensuring timely completion, cost efficiency, and quality adherence.
