India AI Impact Summit 2026 phishing scam alert

NEW DELHI. The Government has issued a warning to participants of the India AI Impact Summit 2026 about a phishing scam targeting attendees through fraudulent SMS and WhatsApp messages. In a social media post, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said that fake messages are being circulated seeking sensitive information, including card details and WhatsApp contact numbers, on the pretext of processing refunds. The Ministry clarified that these messages are not official and have not been authorised by the organisers. It advised participants to remain alert and rely only on official communication channels for updates related to the event. Those who may have already shared their details through suspicious links have been urged to immediately contact their banks to secure their accounts.
