After the onset of the south-west monsoon was announced in Maharashtra, rains finally lashed the city on Friday.Large parts of India, meanwhile, remain parched as people desperately await overdue monsoon rains.
Several parts of Mumbai woke up to heavy rains on Friday with the weather department forecast heavy rain till June 29. Heavy rainfall has been recorded in Virar, Juhu, Mulund, and other areas.
The weather department said intense spell of rainfall was expected in the districts of Greater Mumbai, Thane, Palghar. Though the visibility at the Mumbai airport has been recorded as low, flight operations haven’t been affected. Mumbai International Airport spokesperson, however, told that there was one diversion around 9 am.
