NEW DELHI. GAIL India has confirmed that a fire broke out at its Karkhiyaon CNG station in Varanasi at approximately 21:15 hours. The fire is suspected to have been ignited by an external spark in a store room containing MDPE pipe stock.
Importantly, GAIL clarified that there has been no damage to the core CNG station facilities, and no injuries or loss of life have been reported. The affected area was immediately cordoned off, and prompt firefighting operations were initiated. Efforts remain underway to extinguish the fire entirely while the situation is being closely monitored.
