NEW DELHI. Speaking at GAIL (India) Ltd’s 42nd Annual General Meeting, Chairman , Shri Deepak Gupta emphasized that balancing energy security with the global shift toward cleaner fuels has become vital amid global market disruptions and Middle Eastern geopolitical tensions. Highlighting natural gas as a flexible, lower-carbon fuel essential for the ongoing energy transition, GAIL is scaling up its natural gas, LPG, and petrochemical infrastructure, while diversifying its LNG sourcing, shipping fleets, and clean-energy footprint to ensure supply resilience.
As part of its expansion push, the company is doubling the capacity of its 1,427-kilometer Jamnagar-Loni LPG pipeline to 6.5 MMTPA and has secured regulatory approvals to build three new LPG pipelines covering roughly 1,775 kilometers. Additionally, GAIL is venturing into large-scale gas-based fertilizer manufacturing, with its board granting in-principle approval for ₹21,000 crore in investments across two plants in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh. To support these initiatives and strengthen its supply chain, GAIL expanded its maritime fleet to nine LNG vessels through long-term charter agreements for the GAIL Bhuwan and Energy Fidelity.
