DVC and Coal India Signs MOU for Expansion of 1600 MW Chandrapur Power Station

Coal India entered into a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC). The MoU envisions the Brownfield expansion of the Chandrapura Thermal Power Station (CTPS) in Jharkhand by establishing 2×800 MW Ultra Supercritical units. Additionally, it aims to explore joint development of thermal and renewable energy projects, with or without storage, to cater to the growing energy demand in the DVC valley region.

The MoU was inked by Shri Debasish Nanda, Director (Business Development) Coal India and Shri Swapnendu Kumar Panda, Member (Technical), DVC in the presence of our Chairman, Shri P.M. Prasad, and Shri S. Suresh Kumar (IAS), Chairman, DVC, and senior officials of CIL & DVC.
