On December 10, 2024, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the newly constructed Patna Collectorate building. The event included unveiling the plaque, cutting the ribbon, inspecting the premises, and planting saplings. The preserved remnants of the old Collectorate, featuring eight Dutch-style brick pillars framed in iron, were highlighted as part of the complex.
The five-story building, equipped with solar power, features extensive parking facilities and greenery, promoting sustainability and comfort for visitors. Constructed at a cost of ₹186.42 crores, it integrates historical and modern elements. A review meeting followed the inauguration, during which a short film about the project was screened, and contributors, including District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, were honoured.
CM Kumar emphasized maintaining the building and ensuring efficient public service delivery. Dignitaries such as Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha, Building Minister Jayant Raj, and other senior officials attended the ceremony.
The new building complex has five floors besides basements, ground floor, with open parking capacity of 205 vehicles and basement parking of 240 vehicles. In the historical background of the old Patna collectorate, in the light of the recommendation made by the Patna High Court in the course of hearing of the petition, excerpts (8 pillars) of the old building have been preserved in iron frames. These pillars, symbols of Dutch architecture, are made of brick which are displayed here. It costed Rs 186 crore 42 lakh rupees.
