The government has approved the appointment of Bhupender Gupta as the new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC Limited. Currently serving as Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited and holding additional charge as CMD at SJVN since May, Gupta brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
He will succeed Raj Kumar Chaudhary, who retired from the position on June 30, 2025. Gupta’s appointment arrives at a pivotal juncture for NHPC, which is actively focusing on expanding its renewable energy portfolio and enhancing its hydro-power projects nationwide.
With his extensive sector expertise, Gupta is expected to provide strategic leadership and continuity to NHPC’s ambitious growth initiatives. His multifaceted experience across major power sector entities positions him well to navigate challenges and capitalize on opportunities within India’s evolving energy landscape.
