A new Plate Turnover Device was inaugurated on 2nd September, 2025 at the Special Plate Plant (SPP) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP). Mr. R. K. Bisare, CGM (NPM & SPP) inaugurated the equipment in the presence of Mr. P. K. Padhi, GM In-charge, SPP, and executives and employees from SPP and New Plate Mill.
The newly installed equipment will facilitate the safe and efficient turning of plates during bottom grinding and inspection operations. This marks a significant step towards enhancing safety, improving productivity, and minimizing manual handling risks within the plant.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Bisare lauded the efforts of the team for successfully commissioning the facility, which he said would play a key role in achieving higher standards of operational excellence and workplace safety. Mr. Padhi, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of adopting such innovative solutions to maintain SPP’s reputation for quality plate production.
Employees present on the occasion expressed their resolve to make the best use of the device and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the performance and safety culture at SPP.
