At 14, This Young Author Is Exploring the Invisible Forces That Shape Human Decisions

14-year-old author explores human influence and decision-making

What makes people trust, hesitate, or change their minds, often without realizing why? For 14-year-old author Saanvi Rai, the answer lies in the subtle, often unnoticed signals that guide human behaviour. A Grade 9 student of Birla Open Minds International School, Danapur, Saanvi has now authored and published her second bookThe Hidden Language of Influence, marking another milestone in her already remarkable writing journey.

After her debut book Power: Beginner Guide to Recognition and Resistance, Saanvi’s latest work dives deeper into the psychology of influence. Drawing attention to elements such as tone, pauses, gestures, silence, and unspoken meaning, the book examines how influence operates quietly in everyday interactions. As the book notes, “Influence is not just in what people say, it is in tone, pauses, gestures, silence, and the shadows of meaning.”

Rather than positioning persuasion as manipulation, The Hidden Language of Influence focuses on awareness and understanding. It explores how unseen patterns shape trust, loyalty, and decision-making, encouraging readers to recognize these signals and respond with clarity and intention. “This is not about tricks or manipulation,” the book explains, “It is about understanding the secret codes people already use, and learning how to recognize, resist, and master them yourself.”

Reflecting on her writing process, Saanvi Rai shares, “I’ve always been curious about why people behave the way they do. While writing this book, I realised how much of influence happens silently. I wanted to put those invisible patterns into words so readers, especially young people, can become more aware of the choices they make every day.”

Commenting on her achievement, Paljinder Pal Singh, Principal, said,“Saanvi’s second book at such a young age reflects a rare depth of thought and maturity. Her work shows how young voices today are engaging with complex ideas and expressing them with confidence and clarity.”

At just 14, with two published books to her name, Saanvi Rai’s journey stands out as a reminder that meaningful ideas are not bound by age. The Hidden Language of Influence invites readers to pause, observe, and listen, to not just what is being said, but to everything that lies beneath.
