NTPC Bongaigaon observed Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, themed “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” through a series of impactful activities aimed at promoting transparency, ethical conduct, and good governance. The week coincided with National Unity Day on October 31st, commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary and celebrating the values of unity, honesty, and responsible citizenship. The celebrations began with an Integrity and Unity Pledge, followed by a walkathon led by Shri Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, involving over 150 participants including employees, officials, contractual workers, CISF personnel, and their families. The week culminated in a tree plantation drive near the temple premises, symbolizing growth rooted in integrity and collective responsibility. Throughout the week, various outreach activities such as essay, poster, and drawing competitions were organized for students, housewives, and children across the township, alongside awareness sessions for contractual employees, laborers, and beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of transparency and ethical practices. Vigilance hoardings were also displayed in prominent locations like Guwahati Airport and Kolkata Railway Station to reinforce the message.
Speaking at the event, Shri Ananta Samanta, DGM (Vigilance), emphasized that vigilance is a lifelong value rooted in self-discipline and responsibility, beyond mere observation or compliance. The week’s observance was part of a broader three-month nationwide Vigilance Awareness Campaign across NTPC projects, aimed at fostering a culture of integrity and public accountability. As NTPC celebrates 50 years of powering growth, the Bongaigaon unit reaffirmed its commitment to principles of honesty, transparency, and ethical leadership, working towards building a united and corruption-free society.
