Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the Assam Bioethanol Plant and laid the foundation stone for a Polypropylene Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat, Assam, reflecting a path towards self-reliance in meeting its energy needs. Assam, which seeks initiatives for the state’s development and opens opportunities for farmers and youth, has received projects worth around Rs 18,000 crore.
The newly inaugurated bioethanol plant, which uses bamboo as feedstock, will boost Assam’s green energy sector along with tribal communities and farmers engaged in bamboo cultivation.
The PM asserts that the arrangements will guarantee a consistent supply of bamboo and facilitate the establishment of small chipping units in the region.
