The state-of-the-art Hot Strip Mill–2 (HSM-2) of SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has set a new record on 24th March 2025 by registering its highest-ever daily production in terms of coil weight and slab weight.
The unit rolled 9,427 tonnes of coils, surpassing the previous best of 9,372 tonnes achieved on 30th October, 2023. Additionally, it set a new record by rolling 9,638 tonnes of slabs, exceeding the previous best of 9,614 tonnes, also recorded on 30th October 2023. The success was possible because of the support of the Departments like PPC, EMD, C&IT, Refractories, Centralised Electrical, Centralised Mechanical, Design, Traffic and Raw Material, Power Distribution, RCL, Roll Shop, Materials Management and Instrumentation & Automation.
