“We need to go beyond the compliance norms to emerge as the leader and make our organisation sustainable and scalable,” said Mr. Atanu Bhowmick, Director In – Charge, Rourkela Steel Plant while speaking at the programme organised at SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on 11th November, 2024 to mark the commencement of the World Quality Week observation. The event was organised at the Safety, Quality and Environment Corner of the scenic ‘Shilpa Konark’ enclave near the Main Gate of the Plant. Mr. Tarun Misra, ED (HR) with additional charge of ED (Projects), Mr. Alok Verma, ED (Mines) with additional charge of ED (Works), Mr. A K Behuria, ED (F&A), Mr. Anil Kumar, CGM In-Charge (MM), Dr. Jayant Acharya, CMO In-Charge (M&HS), many CGMs, Senior Officers, and employees of the Steel Plant were present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Mr. Bhowmick said, “Quality in all aspects of our operations is important for the organisation to grow and make it sustainable. We need to focus on quality and deliver the same to our customers and stakeholders.” Elaborating on the theme of this year’s Quality Week observation that is ‘From Compliance to Performance’, the DIC exhorted the RSP Collective to comply with the norms to improve performance.
Earlier, the DIC unfurled the Quality Flag. The Quality pledge was administered to the employees in Odia by Mr. A K Behuria, in Hindi by Mr. Alok Verma, and in English by Mr. Tarun Misra.
Mr. P.K.Sahoo, CGM (MS) welcomed the gathering, while Mr. Anubindo Mohanty, GM (Business Excellence) proposed a formal vote of thanks and anchored the program. Leaflets on QMS were distributed and quality badges were adorned by all to mark the occasion.
