Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray underwent an emergency surgery on Thursday morning after he developed blood clots that were compressing his spinal cord.
The chief minister, who is admitted on the 19th floor of Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital since November 10, underwent his first surgery on November 12.
However, according to hospital sources, he developed issues and was taken in again for a surgery to remove the blood clots. The second surgery, which was performed in a special operating theatre on the 18th floor of the hospital, is said to be headed by Dr Shekhar Bhojraj, his spine surgeon, and Dr Ajit Desai, his cardiologist.

A press note issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said Thackeray is stable, quoting spine surgeon Dr Shekhar Bhojraj and the CM’s cardiologist Dr Ajit Desai. It added that he has been shifted to a room.
Dr Desai said, “He is absolutely stable and he will be discharged in three to four days. The surgery went on for nearly one and a half hours.”
