The Government of India has informed the Parliament that a total 853 Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officers have taken VRS in the last ten years. Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Choudhary said in a written reply that 383 IRS (income tax) officers and 470 IRS (Customs and Indirect Taxes) officers have taken VRS.
