‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ Gains momentum at Rourkela Steel Plant

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, has launched the “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” to be observed across the country from 17th September  to 2nd October, 2025, in convergence with Rashtriya Poshan Maah. The nationwide campaign aims to highlight the importance of women’s health and nutrition as the foundation of a strong family and a stronger society.

As part of this national movement, Ispat General Hospital (IGH) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), in collaboration with RSP’s CSR Department, has rolled out a wide range of programmes for communities around Rourkela. These initiatives, which began on 17th September will continue till 2nd October, are being implemented in peripheral villages, schools, and slum areas with a strong focus on women and adolescent girls.

‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan’ Gains momentum at Rourkela Steel PlantThe programmes include comprehensive health check-up camps, where beneficiaries are screened for blood pressure, obesity, breast cancer, oral cancer, cervical health issues, back pain, and joint pain. These screenings are designed not only to detect early signs of health problems but also to encourage timely medical intervention and lifestyle modifications.

Alongside medical examinations, awareness sessions are being conducted on critical topics such as nutrition, hygiene, good health practices, posture correction at workplaces, menstrual hygiene management, stress control, gender inequality, sexual abuse prevention, and balanced diets. Experts from IGH and guest resource persons have been engaging with women and students to provide practical tips for adopting healthier lifestyles.

To complement these efforts, yoga sessions are also being organized, underscoring the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being, and holistic health. These sessions are witnessing enthusiastic participation from women across different age groups.

So far, the campaign at Rourkela has benefitted more than 2,000 women. The initiative has received positive feedback from participants, many of whom expressed that such outreach programmes not only make healthcare accessible but also empower women with knowledge to safeguard their own health and that of their families.

With its proactive participation in the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan, Rourkela Steel Plant continues to demonstrate its commitment to corporate social responsibility by addressing critical issues of health, nutrition, and women’s empowerment in the region.
